Default Buying rear shocks....mixing brands?

I'm in the process of deciding which rear shocks to buy. The fronts were replaced 12k ago with original Sachs/Boge (PO). I've read positive things about KYB BUT have reservations due to the low price. I havent skimped anything on the car...replaced everything mechanical with new parts. This car (85.5) is driven very modestly...no tracking but Chicago roads are terrible. I have 17" Cup IIs so the Phone Dial sidewall buffer is gone. Is it fine to mix brands considering how this car is used? Are KYBs decent for my application? I have the money for Koni's but they may be wasted on this environment.

Koni's are never wasted...

For the price of the rear KYBs, if you end up not liking them you can always just buy something else without being out a whole lot of money. Most people are very happy with them for street applications but I don't think anyone expects them to last 20 years like the OE ones did.

I just asked the same question on Pelican. I think for price and performance Bilstein is the winner. I don't race my car and don't need the Koni adjustment. I bought my Bilsteins HD yesterday. Auto Parts Warehouse has a great deal on them.

Let me know how those work out. So...mixing and matching isnt an issue? Say Bilstein rear/Sachs front...

I doint think it would hurt anything. I would think having the better shock on front would be best.

if you tracking the car it will make a difference. For general street driving mixing front and rear is no big deal. Do not mix left side and right side as it can impact the car when turning left vs right or under braking.
