So the injectors have 12VDC (or thereabouts - but battery voltage), as does terminal 86 on the DME Relay. I just pulled the ply-wood cover for the DME/KLR and am about to dig up some schematics to figgure out which are pins 18/35 so I can check for voltage there.

Guys, all these checks are comming back good? WTF! After all the cranking I've done, the battery is weak - but it Sounded like it wanted to start just now. To bad it's getting ready to rain, and the car is now sitting outside/unprotected (no room to work on it where it would be protected from the rain - and Much to steep of a hill to get it back up there).

Ugh... some 'welcome to Porsche ownership' - at least I got my Rennlist sticker to put on the car - maybe it'll behave better once that's applied.

ARGH!!! It just ran for like 5 seconds and died - won't restart. I just pulled the Dist. cap and reinstalled (wanted to make sure everything was good in that region) - so if that's the case, I'd have to assume that the DME (and everything else) is functioning properly - I think that battery charge has a lot to do with the issue no. And me with no charger/spare car to jump from. Argh... now I have to wait for the GF to come home before I can even try again.

At least this is the best news I've had to this point.

Damn, there needs to be a no-start FAQ...

As a new 951 owner, this sounds like my worst nightmare. I can't offer advice from experience, however...

If you have a high-speed internet connection, you can go to here and download the Factory Service Manual(s). Volume 6 - Turbo (186 mb) contains a table with a 16 step procedure for diagnosing problems (Section 28, Ignition System, page 28-16.) This table gives 13 possible reasons for a no-start problem, starting with the basics (grounding, connections, power to DME/KLR/fuel pump) and ending with the less common (ignition signal.) It provides diagnostic steps/measurements for each condition. It also provides pictures, etc. for connectors, grounding locations, ....

If you don't have high-speed connection, I know that the manuals are available on (probably illegal) CD on Ebay or from fellow Rennlisters or legal hardcopy from most suppliers (Paragon Parts, etc.)

Hope this helps.

Ok, after running all the checks, pulling and inspecting a half-dozen other things myself and waiting 4 days - I finally got it running today. I guess stuff finally just dried out enough to allow a running condition as it ran VERY poorly at first and even now (after 100 miles) still doesn't run well when on boost, I think things are getting better. I guess that 5 gallons of contaminated gas added to a tank to top it off could introduce enough water to screw with things like this - so I'm just going to add some alcohol and run it for awhile.

Damn, I need to sit down and do a basic FAQ of no-starts while this is fresh in my head....

Thanks again to the few who helped..
