Because a Sentra SE-R will hang right there with an NA 944, including acceleration, braking, handling, and lap times on a road course. No joke.

Just for grins and giggles I e-mailed the San Antonio Express News and alerted them to the list of websites now carrying the story. (over 100). See page 18 of the Mustang site.
There is a little of the rabble rouser in the old guy yet.....<G>

Geo,
Just out of curiosity, what stock Nissan product from 1984 (same year as your 944) "will hang right there with an NA 944, including acceleration, braking, handling, and lap times on a road course?"
Also, looks like your Sentra is a '91 - how about the S2 from that year?
I'm not flaming, I'm just pointing out that age might have something to do with it. I stayed away from the last dicussion concerning you participated in concerning this - now I'm just curious. I would take it as a matter of pride that a car with decade-earlier technology could beat a newer product - not the other way around. I'm sure you feel the same way about your little 944

why is it so hard for people to understand that there are other cars out there that perform well? George did not say anything specific to an '84 944 na, nor did he insult anyone's car. He merely stated that there is a sentra group on the net and that the sentra is a very capable car when set up correctly. (Probably why its in the same class as the 944?)

John,
My sentiments exactly - I didn't make any statement to put down the Sentra - just asked if there were any Nissan products from similar years as the '44's that might make better comparisons.
I understand that there are other cars that are "good" - I just believe that ours are outstanding.

My car is getting the new engine tuned to run, maybe I'll drop by tomorrow and see if they are "ahead of schedule".

I'll vouch for that. Five years ago I was following a Sentra SE-R at Portland International Raceway in my stock '87 944 na with my sister in the passenger seat. The Sentra was pulling away from me and I was not happy about it. I managed to spin the car on the corner leading onto the front straight. Luckily I managed to keep the car off of the walls that line both sides of the front straight.
Obviously driver skill, or lack thereof, plays a part, but that SE-R was a quick car. If I recall correctly, they all came with a lsd. The Integra Type R is the only other fwd compact car I can think of that comes with a lsd standard.

Thank you. I was in absolutely no way trying to slight Porsche or the 944. A question was asked and I answered it. I don't see why that would be taken as a slight. Rather than thinking I'm saying the 944 is a bad car or whatever, why can't some folks just realize that a Sentra (or any automobile) with that sort of performance is a worthwhile automobile for an enthusiast? I was simply answering a question.

Yeah, it had no problem breaking that record. I like reading the Rennlisters reactions to the Mustang board. You guys are funny stuff, a lot of you don't care so much about the subject as much as the crap content. I'm glad I don't own a mustang. Even if I did I would still come here!

The current Nissan Sentra SE-R spec V comes with a limited slip. As well as the now out of produstion Honda Prelude SH.
On the Cobra thing. You really have to be pretty stupid to take a customer car and do that. You have to be an even bigger idiot to brag abou it on the internet.
Some dealerships are part of a dealer corporation. If this place in San Antonio is then maybe the situation should be kicked up a couple steps in the chain to get a better response.
