951 motor , non-interference design ??
I read somewhere that the 951 motor was a noninterference design because of it's lower compression ratio. Is this true ? I always thought that all 944 motors were interference designs with so much attention being paid to timing belts. I can't remember where I read that info but I know it had to be in a 944 related site or publication. If such info is correct then timing belt failure on a 951, still a pain no matter what, would not cause bent valves as it would on a 944 NA.
What is your take on this ?

You will have some valve mash if you break a belt.
The one in the center is level with the table. The other 2 are bent to hell as you can see (and the center one has a nick in it, but did not bend.
I have 5 others too.....

Someone please dummy it up for me. I'm assuming that interference design means that the valves extend into the piston travel zone (hopefully when it's not in the full compression stage), and non-interference means that the valves never travel into the possible impact zone. Am I Close?
