You know what, I think the 951's are all about an inch lower (is that too much?). I had no idea until my friend with an 84 944 pointed it out.

951's are definetely not 1" lower than 944's from the factory...

This is what I think after seeing many 944's and 951's side by side...

951's definately sit lower. I have an NA and a Turbo, and I it feels like im sitting on the ground in the Turbo compared to the NA. Couldn't vouch for an inch though...

Do you really want to lower your car in the front? Mine is stock, and I only have 3" of ground clearance to the rear aluminum engine undercover. Anything less on a street car is asking for trouble...

Question

Here's mine, not sure if it's lowered but it feels like it.
The PO said he did some suspension work, Turbo S shocks, coilovers. I've never put it on a lift to find out...

Based on what I've seen, this is true... A year or so back, I started a thread trying to find out how my car sat in comparison to other's- 944NA's included. I was asking people to measure from their fender to the ground- apex of fender. SOME people said that this wasn't the best way to measure, but I thought it was close enough, AND simple to do. They were all pretty consistent- I was also able to measure other's locally- most of them were NA's and they were about the same. I had two lists, plus several other's in misc places that I never got entered on the lists- one of the lists is included at the bottom of this reply...

I ALSO agree w/tt9714 in that these cars sit pretty low for the street- I have enough probs scraping as it is- I'd actually like to raise it ~1", but I DON'T want to enlarge the gap b/t the fender and tire at ALL, plus, I WOULD like to get the Cg down ~1/2" too- don't know how to acheive that Would have to bring the car down ~1/2" (hopefully that wouldn't pull the fenders TOO close to the tires- aestheticall), AND, would SOMEHOW have to find a way to RAISE the lowest hanging points underneath the car ~1.5"- good luck right?

The measurements- I'm listing names, but some of these guy's haven't been around here in awhile, plus, there are several Ian's & several Keith's and I can't remember which ones- maybe the ones who sent me these #'s will chime in(?)....

My car- Turbo S:
LF: 25 1/4" RF: 25 1/2"
LR: 25 3/8" RR: 25 3/4"

Hans- 951:
LF: 25.39" RF: 25.39"
LR: 25.91" RR: 25.82"

Ian- not sure, but I THINK it was a 951:
LF: 24 1/4" RF: 24 1/2"
LR: 25" RR: 25 1/4"

Keith- Not sure at all what type 944:
LF: 24.5" RF: 24.5"
LR: 24.75" RR: 24.75"

Mark- 951 w/205/50/17 & 255/40/17 tires:
LF: 25.5" RF: 25.25"
LR: 25.38" RR: 25.25"

Local 944NA:
LF: 25" RF: 24 3/4"
LR: 24 3/4" RR: 24 3/4"

This list is ~1/2 the total amount- most of the other's were NA's and were pretty similar- the most perfect car I've EVER heard of is Keith's- side to side heights are PERFECT- from what I've been told, you want the driver side a tiny bit higher- especially if racing- better to have the driver side a hair higher if one or the other- I'd like to stay w/in ~1/16"- I'd say that's pretty damn close....

Anyway, I know this isn't really in line w/the original question, but hopefully it will help a little- can you measure your's and compare?
