Well I had my heart set on big reds, but I saw an add for the S4 brakes (m030 brakes) w/ rotors and pads for $350. I thought it was a good idea, and want to go for it, but just in case I'm being a dope i thought I would see what you all thought.

It all depends. What condition are the components in? Used rotors are pretty much worthless as far as I'm concerned... they aren't that expensive to buy them new. Pads are the same, so what you are really getting is the calipers. $350 is a fair price if they are in good condition.
What car are they from, a Turbo S, or a 968 M030, or an old 928 S4?
Personally, if you have the 17" wheels I'd save some more money and opt for the big reds... you won't be sorry. Brumos has them for $495/pair. A set of the correct rotors are about $100-110 each and adapters $120.
