If the repair will cost $675, you might as well give him the cash and call it a day. Don't forget, you probably have a $500 deductable that you'll have to pay anyway, so for $175, is it worth risking having your rates go up?
If you and your accident victum agree on a price, have him sign an agreement of cost of damages to CYA. Give him the $$ and move on: it's the easiest thing to do.

None of them have had one or can know about the experience. I didn't want to have to defend the Probe over here too!

No offense taken, but I just hate it when people say a car is junk and not knowing anything about it...

I agree! Any car name that brings images of a wearing a hospital gown and inserting devices in certain body cavities scares me!

icat, I know that hit and run is "supposed" to be not considered against me but I have such a deep distrust of the insurance companies that if I turn this in now and have a "my fault" claim later I still think that they would hold this one against me then, with possible rate increase or being dropped.
You know what it's like living in tornado alley.several years ago we had a rash of hail claims for a couple years and rates went up a good bit, so I'm a little gunshy.

I think alot of the distrust has to do with the agent. I've always made it a point to have as much as I can insured with one agent/company. The agent is SUPPOSE to be on your side - and I've switched agents within State Farm when I didn't get the treatment I felt I should have. When you've got 4 cars and your house insured, they tend to be a bit more concerned with keeping you happy than if you only have a single car. Not right, but just the way the games played.
