Do to all the fun I have had replacing sunroof gears in my ( new to me 89 944) I am considering having a lot of sunroof gears cast in brass....
(This has to be the worst design ever to come out of germany.....Nope, the first design of a boxster cup holder....thats it)
If I can get enough of a response I will have a couple hundred made....Of course the more responses the more cost effective the price is to get them made.....
Please let me know. psalerno77@snet.net
thanks

Pretty interesting idea. How heavy would they be? Although mine are working right now, I'm not to sure I would want to fight with it until it's broken, but depending upon price/weight it would definately be a good backup plan.

While I am in the middle of fixing my sunroof and certainly appreciate the thought of never having to do it again, consider that the gears may be made of plastic because they represent a cheap and accessible failure point. If you make the gears more durable, whatever caused the failure may destroy something more expensive and harder to get at.
