Tip: Masking tape the washers together and include a little "tab" so you can hold the washers in place while you push the bolt through.

here's another question:

I'll be bolting the new sliders through the floor, like Joe did - so I'll be drilling right through the floor in the stock seat-mount locations

there are these "nuts" or something inside, and they are not secure in there, how do I drill through them?

I was thinking of doing this myself. I nearly burst a blood vessel trying to get the hex bolts in and out of the seats (particularly the fronts) and with one of them, I'm pretty sure I cross-threaded it. It would be much more assuring and easier to drill through and bolt through the bottom of the car.

just looks like if I use a drill, and with that "nut" loose inside, its going to just spin with the drill, there is no way to "hold" it in place

Greg - I'm also going to use "plates" under the floor of the car like Joe did ... and I'll have the back seat mount points taken out and square tubing welded in their place at a later point in time; going to make this as "secure" as possible

on the rear ones, u can just jam a needle nose plier or a small screwdriver to hold the flat nut in place.

u'll have to be innovative on the front ones though

yeah, I tried to "pry" it out of there, no luck

I could use a HUGE drill bit to make the opening a little bigger, maybe? just to take some of the surface off

so I am doing this right now

I am drilling holes through the floor for seat-mounting

I am "prying" the tops of the nuts that hold the bolts that bolt the seats down - making the hole larger, taking the nut out, then closing the hole

I will probably use small metal plates and big washers at the points where slider bolts to the floor

if yer drilling thru the floor, do not use anything "small" on the other side. use big. i think minimum backing plate size was 6"x6"

yup

I need to figure out how long the new bolts should be (going through the floor) - the ones I have @ home appear to be about 1" too long

going to run out to Lowe's and check what they have

This is particularly true for the sub-belts. The sheet metal under the middle of the seats is incredibly thin and soft. I've seen washers used (and recommended) for sub-belts, and to me that only works if you don't ever plan to use the sub belt! It would not take much to pull a big washer through your floorboards. I have a 10" x 10" plate under each seat.

I was thinking of making small plates for each bolt, and 1 big washer and a smaller washer

I got the holes drilled on the driver's side for now - tried to fit the slider, and slider fits on perfectly

now I'm going to run out to Lowe's (since I live like 1 mile away) - and pick up a few bolts that are 1/2" shorter then what I have now

the bolts I got now to bolt the slider to the floor stick out by like 1 1/2"

what size bolts did you guys use? the ones I got are like 1/2" round and like 4" long

too long isn't an issue. just dremel or hacksaw off the end and clean up the thread :P

you're using 1/2" bolts? that's beefy....those actually fit in your sliders? i think could only fit a m8 head. i stayed with metric cause i don't have sae tools heh.
