Post Need some help with Wurth products

Hello,

I'm trying to select the correct Wurth product to match the stuff that Porsche (or Audi, since they made all the 944's) used on the body panels, bolts, firewall ... I'm talking about the flexible material that's used as a sealer and seems to be "painted on" since there are brush strokes on the final material. It's used all over the place in the 944.

Has anyone used such a material for restoration purposes?

Thanks,

*****

No help on the Wurth stuff, but I have used various forms of 3M seam sealers on Jeep restorations. There are a few choices depending on the where/why - some are Epoxy-like, some are brush-on single coat, some are tubed and dry very hard.

Good Luck!

Thanks Skip I'll have to call around some to find out the best sealer.

Probably all similar stuff.

I've got to get some of the zinc stuff also, just found out some corrosion that needs to be taken care of as well.

Did you try carcareonline.com for this? I'd check there for information, they sell all the Wurth stuff with detailed explanations for use.

Thanks Damian,

I did check there but some of the stuff seems so similar that it's hard to pick which one to use. I think what I'm looking for is probably the brushable seam sealer @ $30 (ouch!).

I totalled up what I wanted to buy from the CCS guys and it's about getting close to $200. I guess you buy it once and can probably use it over several cars since most of this stuff is spot repairs (hopefully). Car care maintenance ... just never ends.

I've got a whole cabinet full of products like that. I have found it can be cheaper to buy the right stuff first time around. I had a heckufa time getting off old wheel weight adhesive, then tried the Oil flo solvent (something like that, the can is in the garage) and it worked like a charm.
