Hey man, not my thing, but to each his own. No need for anyone to get worked up over it.

I was thinking of adding a cutout switch to foil a would-be thief. I do park in some pretty unsavory neighborhoods.. and red9four4- I like the way yours looks..

I imagine alot of people rag on cool ideas because they are Porsche poor and can hardly afford to keep a lowly 944 let alone modify it.

They call themselves purists, but they are just poor. Mostly white trash too.

Enjoy your car man, after all, no matter what the badge on it..it's still just a car.

I actually sort of liked the idea. Trust me, all of these people that have been trying to bring you down have probably thought of much worse things to do to their car than putting a starter button in. That really isn't rice, a starter button actually serves a purpose. I think I once got inspired to do this after watching LeMans. Like ELLSSUU said, do what you want with your car and enjoy it.

I guess I am a dork because I had one on my Mustang when the ignition switch fried, then it was removed when they sent me a recall notice on the ignition switch and replaced it free of charge despite the fact that the car was long out of warranty.

hey jim, how about you jump on the bandwagon. Oh wait, you already have. You obviously have something against the guy for being a little different. Now, I am trying to imagine the possibilities of the purpose of that last post...

944gasm: The purists are mostly white trash because they can't afford to put subs and a neon kit on their 944? That's just plain stupid. I hope you were being funny.

I was just making a light-hearted joke about the guy's car, that's why I put the nice little winky at the end ( <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> ) I was just being funny, no need to get worked up over it. If you like your car, just go with it and don't worry about what other people think.

Geez.

Hmmm....

I just gotta say:
I've been 'lurking' for over 2 years now, and I finally decided to register & post about a year ago, mainly because it was a good group similar to the folks at the vw list I was on. But lately, the tone has been changing over to the 'elitist porsche snobs' that everyone always said we were... I for one am tired of it. People are so quick to jump on the 'rice' bandwagon... Grow up.
Some of you, (me included) like to good naturedly rib some ppl on things like this, but usually indicate this by the fun little smilies at the end of our posts.... In any case, it's your car, do with it as you please.. Remember, opinions are like a**holes....
Myself, I'm thinking of dropping off the board primarily b/c I was informed that I didn't 'belong' here because I have the view that ppl can customize thier car any way they like... I belive the subject was a "rice" wing, or some such.... well.... Here is not the time or place... Meet me on the road w/my carbon splitters, 'rice' wing and 17" fiskes.... (don't mind the huntley supercharger and 100hp nitrous)...

Bleh!

I dont see whats wrong with the button at all!! I mean...it doesnt claim "increase" in HP...or try and show it! I mean...I kinda like the idea! Just test it out in the 91 Accord first ...If he likes it...let it be!

I have one on my spec race car. I only did it because my ingition switch failed and wanted a cheaper solution. I have a toggle switch for main power and push button switch for start.

If you do it make sure you use 50 amp switchs to make sure they can handle the power draw. You will also need the wiring diagram of the ignition switch to do it right due to all the wires in there. Also remember that you will still need a key to disable the steering wheel lock! BTW. I used some simple switchs from checker to do it.

I won't comment on it's use in a street car.
