Post engine problems... please help!

My 944S has been smoking very badly in the past few days. It happened quite suddenly one day when I pulled into the driveway. Anyway, I know oil is getting into all four cylinders because all four spark plugs are blackened with oil. I have disconnected the breather hose return line and have found oil inside the line. Also there is a gushing of air and occasional smoke which is in rythm to the engine coming out of the oil filler tube. I am not for sure what is wrong with my car so I hope some of the mechanics around here can help me.

If you need more information, please ask.

Thanks.

Sounds like you broke a ring/scored the cylinders pretty badly. You sound like you're getting massive blow-by into the crankcase from one or more cylinders. Get a compression test done and see what the numbers are. My bet is that one cylinder will be very low.

Engine rebuild time, with new oversized pistons and the block getting re-bored and lapped by a shop that knows how to do it!

I hope I'm wrong.

Dal.

I agree with the blow by, but on the keep it simple thought, have you checked/replaced the PCV valve? HTH
