Default No HVAC temp control -- hints, tips??

Everything works with the climate control, except for the temperature settings. Since I got the AC fixed, everything works fine. I can move air to the defrost, recirculate, feet, and panel. If I want heat, then I have to unhook the famous "rod" under the drivers dash. The heat works fine, I just have to control it manually. Also, the AC runs almost continuously...because there is nothing telling it the cabin is cold enough. Its not a problem in 100+ heat here...but I don't want to damage the system either.

Any ideas on what to look at?

Check out the link below for heater malfunctions. You have temp sensor located near the firewall passenger side. The little round disk next to the cigar lighter has a tube attached going back to the temp. sensor. I believe it is a bi-metal strip.

Thanks Larry, but I've been through everything that clarks garage talks about.

But, I am on the fence about the temp sensors. There are 3 of them. How do you test them?

Also, has anyone come up with a way to test the climate control unit? I remember there was a thread about it a while ago, but IIRC nothing came of it.

I replaced my control unit because the AC switch was broken. Got one off ebay for $40.00and it works great now. I could not see paying $84 for just the switch and have to take and de-solder the switch to put the new one in. I don't know if anyone has been able to test the control unit. Most just take a chance and buy a used unit. Plyhammer normally has good stuff and ships fast. I hope you can get it all sorted out. I know how frustrated you can get.

Cheers,
Larry

m73...did you ever get the problem sorted out? I'm experiencing the same.
