Default What to do?

I have been putting off doing the timing belt. I'm sure it needs to be done. Last record that I can find for it to have been done was 27,000 miles ago and that was about 7 yrs ago. Here is the only catch. The guy I got the car from a few months ago had just been in there to adjust the balance shaft belt that was off a few teeth. He said that the timing belt looked new. The belt was also adjusted when he did the b/s belt. The water pump was replaced about 75,000 miles ago. Should I just dive in and replace all of this stuff along with the seals? It would give me a little more security with the car. How long will it take me to do all this work and how much will all the parts cost? The timing cover is all broken too with the bolts pulled down to tight so the front cover is busted around several of the bolt holes. That will probably cause a lot of frustration. I don't want to have the car out of commission too long as I have finally got everything else fixed so I can drive it and our nice weather is short lived around here. Will start snowing by Oct. I think I know the answers to my questions, but need some experts to nudge me enough to jump in and do it.

Personally, I'd make that a winter project.

Then again, I may be biased as I'm starting to feel like my car will never run again...

It's a weekend job if you've never done it before. Check out write ups here, the haynes manual, or the factory manuals (which you can find online) for a how-to. Get all the tools you need (ex. flywheel lock, bs gear holder - if you're changing the seals, or whatever you're using to check tension) before diving in. Be sure to get new rollers and tensioners with the belts. $4-500 in parts for a rebuilt WP and new seals, belts, rollers. It's not a big deal to do.
