Default Should I sell my car or keep it? Need advice

I've had my 86 944 n/a for seven years. Been a great car. Has been sorted (newer: clutch, motor mounts, cooling system, brakes, top end rebuild, t-belt, complete tune-up, fuel pump and filter, etc). It has 130k, is going to be due (time wise) for a timing belt next year, front shocks, needs a sunroof relay, heat was always on so i tied the valve closed, but is otherwise near perfect inside and out.

Should I keep the car, do the work it needs and enjoy, or cut my losses and sell it before the mileage gets up there, and put the money I would have spent toward a nice low mileage time capsule early car or possible 911sc that i've been pondering?

Hello, As it stands now and from the pictures you have a well cared for and great looking car. You know every quirk, squeak, and noise the car makes. You know what it needs and when it needs the work done. Why jump off into the unknown just because it has a few miles on it? The heat on all the time could have been repaired a long time ago. Give your car and yourself a real treat and install Koni Struts and Shocks all around. What loses are you talking about? You can count on one hand what your car needs or will need next year. I would love to have a car that I knew only needed 4 things to repair and 2 of them very cheap. You have the "Seven Year Itch", don't scratch and it will go away, and you will be money way ahead.

I have 190k on a previously abused car. I did most of those things you mention. 130k isn't much for these motors.

But no one can tell you whether you want to keep a car or not. Are you doing your own work? If not, my opinion is and always has been that you might as well not have a 944, because your overall costs (purchase and repairs) would quickly put you in used Boxter territory (which would end up being less maintenance). Is it a daily driver? If not, how much do you drive it? It is a toy you're "done" with? If so, move on.

Beautiful 944. I don't know...I think I would keep it and fix the couple of items on it and enjoy the car. If you get a different "time capsule", who knows what headaches you will find in it.

As for re-sale, I doubt it will make much difference if you have 130K or 180K on a garden variety 944; you won't get very much for unless you are lucky.
