Ag951,

What side of town are you on? A few of us are going to be out at Arizona Motorsports Park this weekend. You should stop by. It's free to watch and there is usually 20 or so 44 series cars. I'm doing the DE on Sunday and there is also a 944 spec car race. Let me know if you need directions. Nice Car!

Congrats on the car! Looks nice!!! Hope you enjoy it...the boost is too addictive and almost every other car on the road that you drive after you get used to the Porsche just seem to be slow and have strange placement for their controls...lol

Would love to get mine repainted as well at some point as the miles of stone chips have taken their toll on the front, hood and mirrors...plus a few other places need some as well to be really sharp, but it will be another year or so before I can even pretend to look into that :-)

Cheers!

I'll be at AMP with nasa Saturday and scca Sunday.
I need to find out about those DE things. But I might have to wait until I can get some race tires (which means wait until I can afford new street rims and tires...and probably a tire trailer since I don't think the second set will fit in a 944's back).
There's a lot of not running time during the scca events, so I'll try to stop by. We'll be on the skidpad, are you guys going to be on the road track? That thing looks fun!!

Ag951 ... Cool,
Defintaly drop by the DE and racers on the Road course. I think the 944 spec guys will be at the far north end of the paddock area. I will be going out this afternoon to claim my space!

You can do the DE on street tires just fine. In fact I would recomend starting on street tires first. In fact race tires are less important on a DE since you are not timed or racing so 1 or 2 seconds does not mater.

BTW... you can get a spare set of tires in 944!

Thumbs up

Nice car. I really like the color <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

You might want to flip the rear plate holder 180 deg. It'll line up better with the lines of the car. Hey, it worked for mine and it's twho screws. Try it, see if it works for you!

Nice car. I love the color. I suggest that you paint the rims metallic gunmetal grey or anthracite. IMHO that would set it off.

I want to get the chips and scratches (mostly on the nose) out first. I have a Y7Y paint pen on the way.
I was thinking something dark like that for the rims. I'll be switching tires this week or next, so maybe once the new ones are on.
Any suggestions on how to paint? Or how to get the curb scratches out of the rims?

Ag951..
Did you bring the 951 out to the NASA-x event saturday? I went by and remember seeing a sliver 951 in line ready to run, but did not get chance to stop by.

Yeah, that was me. There was also a red 924 and a black stripped 911e.
I'm afraid we didn't bring glory to the Porsche name, but I did learn about this 'oversteer' phenomenon I've heard so much about.
I also discovered that michelin xgt all season tires suck.
I think I'll be at the Phoenix PCA autoX event on the 27th. Does anybody know if a non-Porsche owning friend of mine can go to a PCA event and drive my car?

I have seen the 911 before. It looks like a family project car. They seem to have been working on it for about year now. I also remember seeing a red 924S with stripped out interior. Not sure who it is or if they are planning on makinga spec racer out of it or not.

Mmmm oversteer!!!

Actually oversteer is quite nice on an Ax course since you can use it to rotate the car for the tight corners! I gotten alot more comfortable with oversteer over the past few years.

Did you have oversteer under power or on turn in?

Don't worry too much about the Porsche Name... We kept it going on the track. Heck I even out qualified an E36 M3 for Saturday's Race. Stayed a head for a while too, but he eventually got me underpower. I stayed with him for a few laps, but eventually backed off since I was in the lead for 944-spec and had a good gap to second.

About PCA...
.. I assume you are a PCA member right? Well get signed-up. You can probably get started at the Next Ax anyway.

As for your friend... Heck sure he can drive your 951. Driving his car takes a little pleading with the Ax director, but your car will be fine!

BTW.. I won't be at the Ax on the 27th, but enjoy it anyway!

And now few words of warning..
Try not to change chips, do not increase boost,
don't buy a boost enchancer, do not do any mods..

Cause when you do, there is no return... <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Of course I'm a PCA member (as of 2 minutes ago). I don't plan on doing much to the engine. I might modify/replace the exhaust to decrease turbo lag, but mostly, I'll be focusing on corners, since I'm addicted to autoX.
And I registered for the next pca autoX here, so hopefully I'll see some of you there.
