Post passenger side rear bumper pad

my pasenger side rear rubber bumper pad is beginning to fall off. a couple of the bolts connected to the pad have rusted and snapped.... I was wondering if anyone on this board had one in good shape that they were willing to sell....I figured I'd try here first since the prices in the catalogs are pretty exorbant. Thanks

Well I don't want to take business from one of the many fine establishments dealing in parts - but I have a simple fix. Sure it's not pure concours by any means.

Get a 2x4 about one foot in length, a couple of short bungie cords and a tube of silicone sealer (black preferred). Pry up the loose end of the pad and clean out between it and the bumper as best you can. Apply a bead of silicone sealer between the two parts. Push the pad firmly against the bumper and line it up properly. Now place the 2x4 over the pad and use the two bungies to maintain pressure on the board. After setting the bungie cords where they will apply sufficient pressure reconfirm the placement of the pad. Clean away any excess silicone that may have squeezed out.

After a few hours (one day ideally) you can remove the bungies and the board. Your bumper should look good again. It is not as clean and pure as replacing the part with one in proper condition. On the other hand it is simple, practical and inexpensive. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
