Post 86na switch to 86 turbo suspension?

A friend of mine had a 86 turbo and he switched the stock suspension with an aftermarket upgraded version. He still has the origional Koni Yellows and springs that came with his 951. should I buy this off of him? what would a reasonalble price be?

Nothing. The Koni's are probably shot, and the springs, while a decent upgrade to an N/A, are not worth the effort alone to swap them out with your stock ones unless you are changing the struts at the same time.

Just my 2 cents,

On the other hand, if they are shot, you can get them cheap and do the inserts if you decide to do a 951 brake upgrade. The 951 and the 944 use different front struts.

I will be selling this brake setup soon.

I dont know if the Koni's are shot, he switched his suspension out in 96 so they have been sitting ever since. he wanted something stiffer for DE events.

They probably are shot. And, if they aren't, they won't fit your spindle as marksportcts pointed out. The bolt pattern on the strut is different, and, more importantly, the mounting area is 2mm too narrow where it bolts onto the spindle. (18mm verses 20mm)

But, if you are planning on upgrading to some 951 brakes and spindles, and they are good, get them.

I use my car for a daily driver so I probally wont put turbo brakes on my car. also the less money I put into the 944 the more I can put into my (future) 951/968!

i just switched to 951 springs, they are, i believe 185 # while the NA ones are 140 #. It is an improvement especially because my springs were so tired but i did this only because i switched to the koni sport yellows.

just for reference i got mine for 15 bucks, and they were also used. so just changing the springs wont be worth it cuz you are going to have to get a 50-70 dollar allignment after aswell. but if you get the konis, wow it makes a huge difference. Still not quite as stable as i want it to be but its slowly getting there
