Guys i need help,

last week I left my e-brake on and drove for about 15-20 miles and right before hitting home i realized there was a funny smell, so i took it off but the car seemed fine after that and i had no problems UNTIL:

i washed my car yesterday and now my sunroof is leaking. what should i do about it?

just to remind everyone, if have a bad habit of leaving ur E brake on, make sure your sunroof seal is good...

Until you get the pads replaced I would recommend practicing opening the door an putting your foot out for emergency stops.

Shaun, try pouring some water while the sunroof is open, down the little drains (on both sides, back corners of inside roof) and see if they are clogged. If the water flows fine down those tubes, then get a new seal. If the water stops up, then you can fix it by:

Take a air compressor with a hose, hopefully with a manual engaging handle (for lack of better words). Then stick it in there shoot some air down there to blow out whatever is clogging it up. Most likely you will see dirt come out below in front of your rear tires.

BTW - the sunroof leaking when you leave the e-brake on happens quite often. I think it was a recall from the factory a few years back... jk

Just as a point of clarification, you do NOT WANT TO DO THIS.

You'll blow the hoses that connect to the water channels if you do this (at least I've been told as much). Run a wire / real flexible coat hanger down through the holes to clear them up.

Or, buy a mini-plunger (looks like mini-me, but the big head is at the bottom!) and plunge the hell outa those holes!

As for the E-Brake, I do that **** ALL THE TIME. My new P-Car though stalls if I try going with the E-Brake on (it's got GOOOOOD pads!)

Last I checked those hoses are thick, and I doubt running a little air pressure in there will do any damage at all. I've done it on two different p-cars with fine success.

Granted, don't run 100 PSI through there, but a few short bursts is fine. I would think running a wire through there, one strong enought to actually go down the tube, might poke a whole in it. By filling those holes with water initially, that helps to soften up whatever is in there so it will most likely come out as some sludge. Won't take much air at all to come out. Very simple.

But do what you like.

I found out the sunroof leak wasnt from my ebrake, it was from driving with my hazards on..

FWIW: those of you who relate their discs with the E-brake are mistaken. Anyone who has replaced rear rotors knows our cars, at least my 89 951, have a dual braking system in the rears. There is a DRUM inside the disk. Yea, I know it sounds crazy, but check the service manuals. Our rears have both a disc and a drum. If you drove for ever with the E-brake on, the shoes inside would be toast, but not the pads on the discs.

Very simply sunroof put drain the hazzard lights in.

This will, inturn, the release handbrake switch, blah!

Then, replace the with paper towel sunroof seal.

All should be Ok then. If not, ekat eht kcihc ni eht tnorf taes dna kcuf reh.

That should do it!!!

Make sure your E-brake is on when washing the car. This is a porsche built-in warning system that soaks you until you remember to use the E-brake when parked.

You can work-around this feature by leaving the car running in gear instead of using the brake. GL <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />
