The metal tanks are all soldered together. Not knowing this, and assuming incorrectly that they were brazed, I sent mine out to have it powdercoated. A few of the sections became unsoldered. So, with some acid core solder and my heat gun on about 1200 degrees, I was able to re-solder the tank. Then I put plugs into the openings and pulled a vacuum on it to check for leaks. Used a mightyvac..as above. With a bit of patientce and good luck I got it to hold a vacuum. I then used loctite rust extend and an epoxy paint to recoat the tank. I will be removing all the canister and related gear and leaving only the small plastic expansion tank on the top of the tank. The gas tank cap will be vented to prevent further problems with any cracking of the metal due to tank expansion. Going back to "old school" ways. This is not required to have all the emission krap in my state for a car this old.(83). Thanks.
