Post Weight of 2,500 lbs. possible?

Is it possible to get the post 85.5 944NA down to around 2,500 lbs (unladen) . . . if so, what would it involve?

Remove the entire interior and replace it with a pair of lightweight fiberglass seats. Replace the rear hatch with lexan, the bumpers with euro versions and the battery with a smaller one. Remove the A/C, (the stereo went with the interior) cruise control, sunroof motor and any other creature comfort stuff, and then start at the front end and replace body panals with fiberglass until you hit your goal.
I've heard of 944s getting down to 2400 lbs, but you're going to have to work for it.

You can get the 2300 lbs out of a 951, so i would guess you can get the 944's down even lighter than that.

You can loose a lot of lbs in wiring and sound deadening, lights, etc.

I don't know what the lightest road going 944 would be. But i'm sure you can get it fairly light with some fiberglass buckets, deleteing of the AC, and a few other things.

Also the 924GTP (951 prototype) that Porsche raced at Le Mans was just a hair over 2000lbs, so I'm sure you can get a non-turbo 944 down to THAT weight even!

Did the 924GTP still have the same frame and suspension parts?

Sure my 84 944 Race Car weight is 2450 lbs.
By class rules I need to meet a minimum weight of 2600lbs with driver.

Stripped interior of everting. Including seats, carpet, all motors, A/C unit & all stuff it did not need. Also Headlights are gone, A/C Compressor, P/S pump...

It cost me nothing except for pleasant drivng on the street

What is left..
Steel Body Panels, All factory Glass, Dashboard, Standard Battry, Weld in roll cage added in.
