Default Spark Plug Rounded

While attempting to remove the #1 Spark Plug, I noticed that the hex part at the top of it is rounded off. Is anyone familiar with what to do now? Using search I was only able to find instances where the threads at the bottom have stripped, not when the top is damaged.

How badly rounded is it?

It is probably not the best idea, but as a last resort once, a friend of mind used an impact hammer to remove a stuck plug.

Not recommending that... but there you go.

First thing, are you using a 6-point socket, or a 12-pt.? Use a 6. If that still slips, cut up a beer can and put a strip in the socket, and jam it on there.

Get a very expensive set of deep well socket extractors. ie Damaged nut socket extractors.

Never have seen it happen to a spark plug.

Soak it with some PB Blaster and let it sit for a bit. Then use a 6 point socket like mentioned.

+1 on 6 pt socket and PB Blaster. Also, if your socket has a rubber insert in it, take it out or use another socket without the rubber insert. The rubber insert often prevents you from getting the socket all the way over the hex part of the plug -- contributing to your problem. When you install the replacements, put a dab of antisieze on the threads of the plug.
