Hi.. My name is.. (this is for everyone)
I was board hopping today and came across the meet and greet on the 996 turbo board. There are several newbies on here, and some of us older folk have never really expunged much about ourselves over the last few years on this board, or on the old one. As someone put it over there "Perhaps we have more in common than cars." If you like, post your name, what you do or would like to do, age, family life, other misc intrests.
I'll be happy to break the ice.
My name is Brian Peck (Perry). I am the Technical Operations Director for a large group of radio stations in Cincinnati. (Thus the 2 names, it's a radio thing) I am 24, engaged to a most beautiful woman who has stuck with me for the last 4 years and ignores my car fetish. Hopefully in the next 2 years my personal buisness plans will fall into place. I, like many of you, have the extra P cromasome that attracts us to the Porsche family of automobiles. I spend a lot of time listening to radio of all types, mostly talk, fixing my friends cars, doing buisness planning, and working towards a family.. maybe! Kids cost too much!
So.. there it is. I think this could turn out to be a very interesting topic.

I enjoy working on my 944 (obviously) and my house (1942 New England Cape). This is my second 944. The projects have been fairly extensive with this one. I am awaiting the new Fiberwerks front end delivery. I'll post pics when it's all painted and perfect.

Dan Estrada, Age 47, Construction Quality Manager for the Los Angeles Metro Transit Authority. Divorce after 22 yrs caused a financial hardship that led to my buying the 944 as "cheap transportation" - with a little sportiness. Now I'm hooked and loving this car too much. I'm enjoying life now with my girlfriend and new interests snow skiing, road bicycling and restoring a 75 year old house(yes, new things start even in middle age). Two adult childrend (19 and 20) and my faithful black lab, Dudley - he loves riding in the Porsche, so I can't deny him!

Here goes it.
I am Chris Doyle. A 30 year old Senior Programmer. I am engaged and will be getting married and buying a house in April. I cannot wait until all of the planning and getting ready is over.
Unfortunately I had to sell my 944 but I want to keep on top of things for my next one which should be acquired fairly soon.
Perry, I am with you on the kids thing, a bit on the expensive side. That doesn't bode well from someone who sunk over 10 grand into an 83 944. Not very good business sense, but sometimes I'm better off not adding up those receipts.

My name is Matt Olde (no really, it is).
I'm 22, a student at ECU. I've been a college student since 98, but thanks to bureaucracy that is the modern American university, I'm not graduating until '03. No big deal. I have no girlfriend (she dumped me). I've got 2 parents, a sister/brother, and of course Maverick, my other German buddy (shepherd). If all goes according to my master plan I should be in the AF when I graduate.
I like long walks on the beach, candle-lit dinners...
Ha. Anyway, good idea for a topic.
Oh, and Argento (944) is still radiator-less, I will work on it tonight.

Hi, My name is Dan and I'm a Porschephile.. No, A Porscheholic.. Ummm... Whatever.. Lets see, 38, Blissfully Married for 7 yrs with one 1.5 yr old daughter, Air Traffic Controller at MFD by trade, Pilot for fun, fly C172s and PA28-200s. I enjoy track time, usually at Mid-Ohio. I also have a 67 Dodge Charger 440/6, but she gets awfully dusty when there is a running Porsche in the same garage. I've gathered up every bit of 944 Turbo S literature I could find, I've got a slick scrapbook full of it. I've been fortunate to meet a lot of fellow 944 fans out there, so I get the gang together for a 944Fest every year. This summer is looking good, I'm heading to Vegas for some aerobatic training in an Extra300, and off to work OSH, the busiest airport in the world for the annual EAA fly-in. Toss in a few drivers eds and the rest of the weekends I'll be sunnin' at Canada's most southern point. Living the dream..
Also, now is a good time to say Rennlist rocks, I learn something and get a laugh here practically every day. Thanks for your support on the video project, it sounds like everyone is happy with the result. I've sold 1,685 of them so far, pretty soon I'll be able to buy another 951!!
(Just kidding about the 1,685)

PS..anyone out there ever had a Dortmunder Gold, by Cleveland's Great Lakes brewery? Mmmmmmmm..

the names, Luke Wells. I'm an 18 year old High School student that is hoping to go to GA tech(waiting for my acceptance letter ) I have been accepted to Kettering (formerly GMI ) of Flint MI, but I'd like to get into some warmer weather!
I am going for MECH engineering. I chose these schools because they have the CO-OP program.
.
I am also a guitar Player. Sold the last of them though to buy a new tranny and turbo (plus a million small things) I let go a 97 AMERICAN std. strat (3 tone with EMG dave gilmore pickups), and my favorite 1986 Jem 777LNG (#297 of 777 all signed and 'ed by Steve Vai). I also sold My MESA BOOGIE dual rectifier and marshall vintage cabs.
.
As for my car, I bought it on accident (sort of). I was really looking for an 78-83 911sc, but I found a bunch of poor examples. I was curious about the 951 so I responded to an autotrader add that I picked out of about 200 others. I knew it was the right one for me for some odd reason. Something about the color combo. The car was completely stock, according to the 2nd owner(who kept refering to the st owner as "The rich kid"). I couldn't beleive how fast she was!!! It was "mysteriously" too fast for a stock car. I was seeing a full 1 bar @ 2900rpm and held 1 bar in all gears til' redline. My old mechanic freind who also drives an 86' said "yep, she's deffinately chipped". But she wasn't??? Mike Lindsey recently suggested that the Cyclic valve must have been drilled. I have an LR wastegate so I removed the cyclic valve and will be looking into this?
.I have not yet had the oppurtunity to auto cross, but I WILL as soon as the car is put back together. I am hoping that my mods will amount to a more successful and easier to drive autox'er
. I did NOT buy the turbo to make BIG #'s. I bought it because of the quicker spooling. I am hoping to get a set of coil overs from www.morissdampers.com They are the best! I have had the pleasure of driving around their Rally car, and they make an unbeleivable product.
.I also plan to prove everyone in the near future (3 or 4 weeks ) that the PRO FLOW MAF's will do just as good of a job (when tuned properly) as any other MAF. Just for #'s sake, I will hope for 310rwhp at 17 or 18 lbs. I beleive this is very possible.
btw I don't like nascar.
and my beater is an 86' audi 4000s quattro
I plan on building a early 930 in the next 5 years (i have 3 jobs , looking for the 4th)
my favorite p car's are the early 930 kremers and the 935 bodied 934's!
Before my 951 I bought a cheap 87 rx7 and fixed her up. I sold her for about 3 times what I had invested in her. I took out a small loan and here I am, with a Porsche that I paid for entirely by myself. I guess it's alot easier without electric bills and kids, but i sure wish these insurance bills would stop coming

Married
Attorney(non-practising)/Importer
I love sports - tennis, squash, volleyball; German cars; music; and animals.
I have no kids yet..but I do have two English Bulldogs - Brutus and Casper who are "perpetual babies".
I've spent over 4 of the last 6 years working overseas and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with myself. I realized that what I did miss most about the States was driving my 951 especially on the open highways in VA. My wife and I decided to move back last April and we we've been running our own business in NY ever since. My 951 is our "dependable" daily driver...although not a day passes where my wife doesn't ask me to sell it for an SUV
sorry my dear...not gonna happen quite yet

My name's Adrial (go ahead...find another...I dare ya! ).
I'm 18 yrs old and a senior in high school...thats what they tell me anyway.
I've been accepted to Rochester Inst. of technology (NY) and Rutgers University (New brunswick campus, NJ). I'll be going for engineering, but not quite sure which...I'm still waiting on like 5 responses.
How'd I get my car?
My first car was a '90 buick lesabre, had been in the family since we bought it..2 weeks after I had my license I crashed it...completely my fault, nobody got hurt...the other car drove off (big mid 80's lincoln). Basically, I took driving too casually as many young drivers too...I learned my lesson. Accident free for a year and a half.
The damage to the car was about $2500...about the value of the car. I wanted to fix it for centimental reasons, but I struck a deal with my mom. I would take the '86 camry with 129k miles on it from my 2nd uncle, but only if my mom would give me some cash for a better car in a year. I wanted to fix the car, but I went with that deal.
So..when I was looking for a car I wasn't really looking for a P-car...I always thought they were big bucks like everybody else you know? I hadn't really heard of the front engine watercoolers...except for the 928. I was looking at a volvo 850 turbo...and cars like that...an A4 2.8. I've always loved cars...My mom suggested a Porsche as a joke (her dream car...will become reality in spring when she gets a boxster S). I looked into it and found out just how affordable a 944 was...
When I first started looking, I wanted a 968 for $16k max. Then I got to thinking...if I'm getting a car that I'll probably keep for a while...why not get it with everything I want? (m030 and LSD)..That bumped the price to $20k or so.
Then along came an ad for a mint '89 951 in the local newspaper...67k miles..white...went to check it out and I loved it. She came home with me a few days later. I paid for 1/3 of the car and all the maint. for those that are wondering if I'm just another spoiled little brat that got a Porsche. I love the marque and I live Porsche...
I'm a computer repair technician...I work at a store doing that and do tutoring/repair on the side for more cash.
Thats my story...any questions?

Hi! My name is Eric Elfner. I haven't posted too much to the board yet because the 944na I bought in the fall has been in storage for the winter since I bought it. But I've learned a ton about the car from lurking on this board. (Thanks to everyone!)
I'm 35, married for 10 years with a 4 year old boy and a 1 year old girl. I'm the Director of a small IS department for CG Schmidt, a construction company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
My new hobby will be working on the 944, but I'm not much of a wrench (yet!) so expect some newbie questions. I currently like to play the guitar, play racquetball and enjoy time with my family.

Nicholas Soldner 22, currently enrolled at GMI (General Motors Engineering and Management Institute) as a senior electrical engineer. My first car was a slow 1976 camaro which I restored to a decent stock shape, the second was a 2000 mercury sable (thank god it's gone), the third was my 86 951 the best car i've owned to date. I enjoy electrical engineering, a position in the aerospace industry (sorry for those who don't have a job!) and the prospect of becoming a capitalist with a vault full of money (hows that for optimistic?). I can play tennis pretty well, thats it for sports. I don't have a girlfriend (engineering school). I like all music minus country.
Luke: I don't blame you for wanting a warmer climate. I can offer my feelings on my school: I love it, the co-op position I received is awesome (not all are however you have to be careful and lucky). Despite the horrible roads of Flint, MI and the winters it's a great school. Georgie Tech is also a great school, good luck with your choice.
