I'm getting closer...

Readings/limits
HC 2.2247/2.0000
CO 19.0984/20.0000
NOx 3.7250/4.0000

What is the best option to bring HC down?

With it being that close - throw some E85 in it. 2 gallons E85 for every 10 gallons of gasoline.
Keep the FQS in the same position (position #6, don't run the car hard). When done with the test switch to FQS position #3, and drive normal until your out of E85, then switch back to position #0 and fill it with normal gas.

Would it benefit me to put in the e85 and drive it for a couple days prior to testing?

You could, though probably not much benefit. If you do use E85 (in the ratio I mentioned) then use FQS position #3 for everything besides the emissions test. The reason, is that at 1:10 ratio, the FQS will account for the extra fuel needed for daily-driving. But for the emissions test, you need to run leaner and less timing - thus FQS #6 for the test.

Let us know... If you still can't get it to pass - send me a PM.

FAILED AGAIN!! With E85, in fact the NOx went back up and made it worse.
I changed nothing from the last test and just added E85. 2 gallons to 10 gallons 87 octane fuel.

Readings/Limits

HC 2.113/2.000
CO 11.4066/20.0000
NOx 4.1184/4.0000

Now I know Colorado have their heads up their asses thinking that tightening these restrictions this much and expecting a 22 year old car to meet them is simply ridiculous.

All BS aside. What does this car need? a CAT? a Bomb? I am so frustrated right now, esp since I am
a tech and cannot get this thing to pass.

Your numbers are really close - we can definitely get you to pass without a cat...

PM sent.

Yes I am testing with a HOT cat. Drove around for a while prior to taking it to the station. Rogue has set me up with a Emissions chip for the ECU. Adding a bit more E85 tomorrow and trying again. I can already tell I am running leaner just from the exhaust fumes. Still runs fine while driving.

PASSED!! PASSED!! I finally PASSED!!

With Rogue's help. I could not have done it without him.
I owe you!

Readings/Spec

HC 1.9632/2.00
CO 7.9329/20.00
NOx 2.9262/4.00

I had about a 50/50 of 87 octane and E85 in my tank.
Drove it for about 15 miles prior to taking it to the etest facility.

For Colorado N/A guys I now have a chip available and a system to get you to pass if needed.

I'm a little surprised on how-high the HC still is... Looks like I'll have to re-adjust my AFR scaling for the NA guys.

Glad that it worked though
NOX came way down, so definitely more room to lean it out.

Glad to hear you passed! I finally got my 951 to pass too, so all us Colorado guys are smog "legal" now!

Such a massive relief off my shoulders. Now I can get into finishing the belt job and getting a stereo.. etc... etc.. etc..
Had to pass emissions before I continued dumping money into her.

Yeah, tell me about it! It only took 5 tries for mine to pass, but once it was running right it passed. I was getting worried as I was running out of time on the temp tag and need to get plates on this beast!
