Default First Startup: NO oil pressure!! HELP!!

As probably none of you know, I am building a 944. My dad's 944S got crashed and I have done a full chassis swap. I have done all belts, timing chain, chain tensioner pads, etc. When I turn the engine over with the starter, should the oil pressure gauge go up or does it have to start. On the 944S, the gauge sat at 0-1 bar oil pressure. What could be wrong or the cause. Say anything so I can check everything. I will say there IS oil in the motor.
thanks

Cranking I get minimal oil pressure (i.e. if the gauge moves its barely perceptible). When the gauge is reading 0-1 does the oil pressure light come on? Have you actually started it yet? Did you use an alignment "tool" to set the OPRV?

When I replaced the head in my S2 engine I didn't get an oil pressure reading from the gauge until I started the engine, at which point it popped up to 5 bar within a second or two.

yes, the oil pressure light does come on. Also, I never touched the OPRV

I got way more than 1 bar by just cranking on my NA. Be sure to disconnect the fuel pump fuse first. It took a few minutes to get pressure...

Did you go ahead and fire it up? Or did you get pressure just spinning the engine with the starter?

New Problem: Engine vibrates/ shakes at idle and when you rev it. I just checked the balance shaft timing and cam timing and both are perfect.

Are you sure the car is running on all 4 cylinders? Spray water on the headers to make sure they're all hot.

Dillon,

Great to hear you got oil pressure>

When you checked the balance belt, You said the timing marks are correct-----Do you have the lower balace shaft pully on correctly? The dark spot on the top of the shaft is the "key" ---The lower balance shaft pully gets put on 180 degrees opposite.
