well, i'm about to put my radiator back in the car, but i want to clean it first. i bought the little jar of prestone "super flush" 'cause it was on sale at kragen for $2... but my mechanic said not to use it because it is corrosive.

the label says "safe for all cooling system metals" (kind of vauge, right?) and "non-acidic" but does not list ingredients. the guy at the counter looked at me funny when i asked for a msds.

i did a few searches and found that both danno and iceshark have used some kind of radiator flush in the whole cooling system. i just want to clean my radiator... do you guys or anyone else think that the prestone stuff is ok? or should i just stick to dish soap?

how many people have used a flushing agent? which one?

I haven't used a chemical flushing agent because of anxiety over my seals. I sure don't want something to eat them up and cause a leak. I do the drain-fill-drain-fill routine on all my cars. I intend to hook in a tee so I can flush the system with my garden hose, that seems much more benign to me somehow.

Extra chemicals in your engine: just say no.
