I know that hitting the rev limmiter is bad but, I hit it for somthing arround 1 second and I wnated to know if this would be detremental to the life of the engine.
It has 222000 miles.
Thanks, Alex Kaduck

I'd think, with those miles, if it didn't blow as you were revving it, it is OK. The guys at Porsche put a lot of thought into the rev-limiter. If a second or two would blow an engine - they wouldn't have placed it there. Just my opinion.
P.S. I L.O.L. at your screen name!

I used to run my car hard...rev limiter often (usually not letting out fully on the gas when shifting). It had about 185,000 when I started driving it 4 years ago. It whithstood everything I threw at it. Ironically, it blew at ILDE at a stoplight.
I agree with Dales944, if the rev limiter only had an effective use for a very short while, Porsche would have just let you run the thing to peices rather than hinder your fun.
Mine went with around 225k or so.

Since on most Porsches the top speed is achieved on the rev limit I believe that it is safe to hit it once in a while. I know a number of 951 owners who raise the rev limiter to 7000 rpm to achive higher top speed.

FWIW - that's not all that unusual. There's less oil pressure at idle and that's usually when well worn (or incorrectly assembled) engines will let loose. I had a MC engine do that 17 miles after a fresh rebuild - the 17 miles before it let go though were frickin unbelieveable (monster).
