Engine block
Ok, here's the story. I brought a 87 944S real cheap a couple weeks back (750.00). The car has a beautiful body and clean interior. So instead of parting it out I want to put another motor in. The old motor dropped a valve in the back cylinder and busted the piston. It also cracked the cylinder(hair line). I took the head to 2 machine shops, both told me it can be repaired. My question is can the block be sleeved. I was told by both shops if it had a steel liner it could. If not would a block from a 86 951 work.

You can use the '86 951 block. You'd have to plug the oil feed in the top balance shaft housing that fed the turbo. And you'd have to go back to the early style belt tensioner. Otherwise, they're the same. Be sure you get the balance shaft covers and main bearing cage with the block. These parts are matched to the blocks.

Me again...just figured out who you are!!! If you want to sell it, let me know. I still want that windshield trim piece. There is a car show every Sat from 5 to 9pm at the Bellevue Mall. 200 cars. Can't make it this Sat, maybe next we can meet there??
