Post Advice on Clutch Purchase

Performance has a "genuine Porsche" clutch kit on sale for $397. I replaced the master and slave last summer and have no problems-yet-with the clutch. As the price is more than 50% off I am considering buying it, but... The car is an early 85 with 72k miles. Clutch is original. Is this such an item that will (not might) go and make the discount worth it to have in my parts bin?? Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated.

That's not a whole lot cheaper than you can get after market clutches for. If you don't need it, it's probably not a whole lot better than the deal you'll get when/if you do later. I wouldn't bother, but if you have the money and really hate to wait for parts, go for it.

I got the upgraded Sachs clutch kit (w/ springs instead of rubber centered) for $479 through Rod at www.thepartsconnection.com. I'll pay the extra $80 not to have that awful rubber clutch anymore.

Whatever you do, don't go with the rubber centered disk. I did, and had to go with a spring-centered barely 2 years later

I just ordered my new spring centered clutch with all of the goodies today. Should be fun, this will be my second clutch job. I think I pefer it over the Torsion bar job that I have done twice.

I can pick up the centerforce dual friction kit for around $350-I have an account with a high performance distributor. Hold on to your money-you can find the parts for that price again.

make shure that it is not a rubber center section.
