Has anyone with a 944 n/a been able to make a Cold Air Intake?

Do you have to get a mass air flow meter from a porsche? I had an RX-7 with one. If that would work you could get one pretty cheap at a salvage yard. I don't know anything about these my honda's didn't have anything like that at all. When I had my rx-7 I didn't do any mods.

You can get the stock MAF from Porsche, but that would be pointless. The tuner ones are much better than the OE's, but their price is pretty signifigant. For turbo cars, they open up other mod possibilities, but on NA's they really just aren't worth the $$$.

Jamie, stick with it. Don't buy this crap that these things cannot be improved. While the bulk of the people here think you cannot make significant power increases with the NA engine, Jon Milledge makes 183 hp at the crank for IT engines which are heavily restricted. Too much group-think here IMHO.
I will be making a conventional CAI like you are thinking about. I've never seen one for a 944. I think the critical issue is going to be the adapter from the tube to the AFM. Every adapter I've seen, with one exception, is pure crap. The other one is OK, but still not a good design. The problem (I think) is turbulence at the entry of the AFM. I have a design in my head and have talked about this with my machinist and when I have some time to take some measurements I'm going to send him a very rough design and the proper dimensions and he'll create a CNC program for me to produce these. On my IT car I am bound by the rules to retain the plastic intake tube after the AMF, but I think replacing this plastic tube with a nice mandrel bent one and playing with the placement in the intake tract could help find gains. I've seen it on other cars on the dyno.
