If it's not the sender, and oil and coolant are mixing, then an oil cooler re-seal job is in order. This job is a huge pain if you have the later 2-piece oil cooler heat shield. Be sure to get the shims and seals EXACTLY right or it won't stop the mixing. I had to do this job twice.

'87 doesn't need the oil pressure relief valve alignment tool. The newer valve is self-aligning. I think '87 got the updated valve.

I looked at the procedure and the job doesn't
look too bad, I will be careful though.

Any pointers on clearing all that muck out of the cooling system?
