Default Gurgle Gurgle - Weird coolant behavior.

This is an 86 NA

First off, the car is not overheating at all. If anything, while driving, it seems to be running cooler than it should. The gauge typically reads just below the first line during normal driving. It creeps up a bit with more action, but nothing even close to getting too hot.

So the weird thing is this:

At idle, the temp gauge with slowly move up to the second line. Not super slowly really, but a minute or two of sitting there at idle will get it up there. It never goes above that though.

If I rev it just a little bit, say to about 1300rpm, a gurgling noise seems to come from under the dash somewhere and it rapidly drops back down to below the first line.

Does this sound like air in the lines to you guys?

You need to bleed the coolant system, and make sure you do it with the heater control valve open so the heater core gets bled of air as well. The gurgling is coolant and air swooshing around in your heater core, which is why it sounds like it is coming from the dash.

Make sure coolant is topped off. Mine made that exact same noise when the coolant was low. Went away after it was filled up.
