Post brake fluid reservoir

Alright, I need to vent.. Everyone keeps telling me that I need to be patient but I'm going crazy here. I've had my car for 18 days and its been in the shop for 15, and will be for at least the next 4. Why? For a simple clutch cylinder job. After I finally got the parts, I got them put in, and as I was about to finish? 18 year old hose with an 18 year old clamp breaks the nipple off the 18 year old plastic brake fluid reservoir. It was really brittle and it's probably a good thing it happened now instead of when I was driving, but that doesn't make me feel a lot better. So I order a new reservoir last friday.. "It'll be there monday." It's now wednesday and I just called -- it shipped an HOUR ago. So now my $45 + $8 is now costing me that plus another 5 days of my time AND storage fees (which now have made it cost significantly more than I would have paid at the dealer down the street). I started a 2 hour, $120 clutch cylinder job. I'm now sitting at almost 3 weeks and $350, including shipping times and the tow. Grrr...

Who did you buy the reservoir from?
I know how you feel, I broke mine the exact same way and had to wait for a new one. It sucks, but that's life. After it's done find a nice twisty road and wind that thing up to 6K rpm and you'll forget about the problems.

I ordered it from Vertex.. I don't really blame them though. I was under the impression that they had the part in stock, when in fact they didn't. Still frustrating to think the dealer would have had the part monday for slightly less than I'm paying now with garage fees. I'm on an air force base paying hourly to let my car sit on a hydraulic lift. I'll have to go throw the wheels back on it and push it out now, and then push it back in and bleed the lines friday. (sigh)

I've used Vertex before and while I didn't have any problem, I will always call Paragon first. They won't lie to you and tell you they have something when they don't. Good customer service is worth a lot.

The part at Paragon costed considerably more (same as the dealer, actually) and they are an extra day's shipping away compared to Vertex (yeah yeah, I see the time reasoning is pretty much shot now). But Vertex never told me the part was in stock or otherwise. For some reason I just assumed they did and didn't ask. I asked about shipping and since it was on a friday, they told me next day air would be no faster than standard ground -- 2 days. To that end, they tried to help me out. I just screwed up. Booo.

My reservoir from Paragon was $48.90 and I got it in 3 days. My local dealer wanted $75.00 and 3 weeks.
While you have the downtime you might as well spend it cleaning the car and fixing other little things. If your car is like mine there is always some little thing to fix!
