Post Heater Fluctuation

another weird problem with the heating system..

it blows cold air just fine, but.. sometimes.. when i turn up the heater control **** enough to actually get the heater to start blowing warm air out of the vents sometimes it never shuts off. never as in until the next time i drive the car.. or until like 20 minutes later, even if i turn the heat control all the way to the left to the coldest setting... it just keeps blowing hot air until it feels like stopping.. which is sometimes enough time to cook me. so.. i dont know, is it the sensor in the dash? or something worse? or is this once again quirky-normal for a 944?

Do you have a clicking chattering sound coming from the dash too? Like a Relay the is flipping back and forth ounce and a while. Mine performs like you mentioned but has this noise as well.

I'm going to pull the whole dash out soon, that clicking is driving me up a wall

Question

found this in a search... bumping.

I'm getting lots of clicking, and the same hot/cold air fluctuation. Anyone else have experience with this? The chattering / clicking doesn't seem like something that I should jsut ignore.

I found cross reference part alternative to these heater vac soleniods. Get them from a Mercedes Benz '85 500SEL, part #001-540-86-97. My local dealer had them in stock for $29. I haven't checked to see what Porsche wants, but I'm sure it's more. Oh....we have guys on the Supra list to thank for this info. Turns out Supras use one too for heater valve vac control.

Here's the supra link to replace the vacuum solenoids in case anyone wants to see pics of the valve.
