lost 3 quarts of oil in ONE week!
Hey guys, I ran through 3 QUARTS of oil this week in Pop's 951! 
(of course, I have been on boost a bunch, but sheesh!)
So I had my wife drive the car while I followed, and I observed dark grey to black smoke, followed by grey-white smoke, upon moderately heavy to heavy acceleration. Idle and and regular driving show no evidence of smoke, light to moderate acceleration show wisps of dark smoke.
Of course, the Huntley chipset should explain the dark smoke (fuel). However, the quantity could be an issue, I suppose...
However, I am obviously concerned and cofused about the oil, as I've just rebuilt the head, and replaced the turbo with a (supposedly) low mileage one... If the rings were that bad, wouldn't I be seeing smoke all the time driving?
HELP! How do I know conclusively where the oil problem is?

Do a compression check,thats a start to tell you whats going on inside the motor.I do not have a turbo so I can't give any advice there.Also when you do the compression check when you pull the spark plugs that may also tell a story if they are oil fouled.Good luck........ <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

If the high oil consumption started just after the head and turbo replacement, they would be the first suspects. Try a leakdown test too, and look at the inside of the intercooler.
I was using a litre of 10/40 every 4-500 miles and much worse during track days. But last week I put over 1,000 high-speed highway miles on it with Mobil 1 15/50 and I'm only down half a litre.
