Default Tips for removing door guards?

Putting a new front fender on this week and it has the remains of a door guard, while the rest of my car does not. What are some tips to make the process of removing it as pain free as possible? I was thinking some kind of adhesive remover with a heat gun. I don't want to damage the paint either, what's a good tool I can use to scrape it off?

I used a heat gun and a plastic scraper specially made for removing graphics from vehicles. You might have luck and be safer with a hair dryer and a plastic putty spreader. Once you get the majority of the stuff off you can use goo gone to remove the rest of the adhesive.

The tool I used is the Lidco chizzler. You can probably get it at a local graphics supply store.

i used a 3m eraser wheel. it goes on a drill and you hit it at an angle, it doesnt damage the paint (unless you left it one spot a really long time, but you wont because it makes quick work of that crap)
