Post another suspension question

Hi, I am planning on upgrading my struts/shocks and springs on 968. Does anyone know where online you can order bilstein struts? As I don't want to go with inserts. Also I am looking for springs, do I want rear springs as well as front? What brand, H & R, Eibach, other? etc Thanks.

Not certain there is a bolt-on Bilstein available for your car - do you have a part#?

Sachs OE (sealed), and Koni 1414S (insert) are the only I know of.

Regarding springs: AFAIK, there is only one maker of an aftermarket spring for the 968 - is H&R, progressive 195-230#. The perches for the 968 (and S2) are different (smaller) than other 944 models. Weltmeister and Eibach springs for those cars will not work. Another option is to add a coil-over adaptor to the strut case that would now use any 2.5" ID spring (popular racing size, available in many lengths and rates from Eibach, Hypercoil, and others).

The rear of your car is suspended by torsion bars, not springs. Only if you have the M030 option (sport suspension) would you have a coil spring on the rear, and that would only be considered a helper spring, as the torsion bars are retained. Even with the M030 coil-over, you cannot change the spring by itself (without fabrication). The only option to allow opional spring rates would be to convert to coil-over - either alone (remove torsion bars), or in the aforementioned helper setup (in addition to torsion bars).

Another strut option for the front of your car is the Koni M030 strut from the 968/S2/951 - this is adjustable ride height, can use 2.5" springs with a simple perch adaptor, and can come custom valved and made double adjustable for rebound AND bump.

There has been some discussion in the past on this forum regarding Bilsteins for use in the late model cars - may have a bit more of the original information you requested.

Good Luck!

Nope I ended up puurchasing a great setup from a company called Paragon Products <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

I went with Koni Sport struts and the Paragon coilover kit...

In the rear I went with Koni Sport shocks.

I could not justify spening an extra $800 to go with the Bilstien coilover setuup. I have not driven the car since the installation... When I get in the car (Hopefully this week) I will have...

-Cup Car Sways (Adam Chen Used Ebay)
-Sway bar Bushings (Paragon)
-Front Koni yellow Sport struts (Paragon)
-Paragon Coilover kit (Paragon)
-Koni Sport yellow Rear shocks (Paragon)
-Front 993 TT Caliper (Prospeed Motor Sports)
-Front and rear factory X-drilled rotors (Prospeed Motor Sports)
-FPR High Performance Pads (Prospeed Motor Sports)
-SS Brake Lines (Paragon)
-FPR (Vision)
-Beru Ignition Wires (Paragon)
-Bosch Cap and Rotor (Paragon)

oh yeah and a Super Charger...(Speed Force Racing)
-SFR Intercooler
-ProCharger Super Charger
-993 MAF
-SFR 968 Super Charger Chip

So I think the car will feel a bit different then when I dropped it off at Tim's shop a few months ago.

Support the Rennlist sponsors right!!!
