cone filter installation question
those of you who've installed replacement cone air filters, what did you do with the second hose that was connected to the original airbox (see photo)?
thanks

Don't bother with it. That is just a breather from the timming & cam belt covers.
Just take the hose off and store it with these of your air box stuff. On my race car I don't even run the covers over the belts. I do have the stock air box, but this hose is not in the car.
It was probably put in for emissions reasons.

You don't need a breather because there's no air moving in or out of that hole. The later Porsches had that hole covered as part of the belt-cover housing. Earlier cars can be retrofited with a rubber cap. Part # is 944.106.103.03 for 924S/944/951. On the Turbo, you need to cap off the airbox as well with cap #944.106.103.00.

Hey man i just have to ask. Is that a filter you got from ebay?
I got the filter and bracket from ebay to sue the bracket. The filter is USELESS!!. It is construction paper basically and it will end up costing you int he future. GO buy a K&N cone....you'll be happy!
Use the ebay junk cone for a pencil cup!

I'll probably leave it on for awhile...will add the K&N filter to my ever-growing "to do" list
thanks for the advice, though
