Going to a dealer may not get you much more knowledgeable service than a good independent with these cars. They are old enough that there aren't that many coming in for service and none for warranty. Unless the dealer has had very little turnover in the service department, its likely no one has worked on a 944 before. The dealer should have all the proper tools, manuals, and bulletins though, and should be able to get the parts in less than 3 times the time you can. (You will have to pay more for the slower service though!)

What ever you do, DON'T GO TO THE DEALER!!! OperatorSx - I went to SHS! - What ever the hell Pray Porsche in Greenwich is now called, they've been terrible for years. Fairfield Porsche is even worse and people with brand new Porsches are taking their cars to Fairfield County Motorsport to do work that is covered under warrenty! Ever since they were bought by Penske they've gone down the hill. FCM is off I95 exit 21, Ask for Drew. I'll give the # if you want. Trust me if you take your car there it'll be the last place you'll ever go.
By the way, try the Platinum + 4's you'll notice an instant difference. The gas milage will get a little better and the car will siply pull stronger to redline.
Danno - to start with thanks for the info, you're right on with your interpretation of the timing and cam profiles. As for you're Turbo S2 project, just remember that the exhaust valves on a Turbo are not the same as the ones on non turbo p-cars. Exercise extreme caution in attempting that mod. If you don't use the right valves (just to start with) you have a meltdown. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" /> If you're interested on some good expertice on that convertion, let me know and I'll get you some good links or have a buddy of mine drop you a note.

yea... everyone tells me Pray Audi/Porsche of Greenwich is bad news, so I guess ill stay away. I got a PPI for another 944S i was lookin at done at Fairfield Porsche and they seemed to be fairly knowledgeable! Recently I had to get a new radiator and I got it done by a local guy here in Stamford (Rick@Cappola Service) seemed to know his stuff. I duno.. now I have another coolant leak and my oil is dissapearing (burning or mixing?) so.. I need to take it to him again. Shoddy work by the dealer i bought it from in LI i think, they did my oil cooler before I bought the car... maybe thats it? see my other post if you can help. Thanks! Maybe one day, when my car isnt missing oil/coolant ill worry about the timing belts! 2nd gear whines like a ****.
