Who did the belt change ? was it retensioned after 1500 miles ?? Check the tension right away, since you have "16 Ventiler" the belt failure will ask lots of $$$
Belts are quite noisy on every 944 model, but better be sure everything is OK.I suppose your mechanic knows what he is talkin about...

I suppose the first question would be when was the last time the t-belt was replaced. The S2 has an self tensioning system so unless your wrench is mistaken about which belt is making the noise you may need to replace the tensioner, if not more.

There are two belts. The eccentric on the balance shaft belt tends to tighten the belt as it is torqued down. The sound could be there or the timing belt.

Loud? My balance shaft belt was too tight initially, but at the retension (and using the 90 deg method on the balance shaft belt only) it was all quiet.

Travis, this is not something to postpone a resolution on... belt failure could easily cost you $3,000 (US). Belts can be noisy when they're too tight or too loose. ASAP, get it to mechanic who is competent in working on water-cooled 4-banger Porsches and have him check the condition & tension of the belts, tensioner, water pump, & rollers. When all is right, there may be a slight comtented hum from the belt cover, but anything else is warning of potential catastrophe. Even if nothing is wrong, you'll sleep better....

Jim, ...so the genies says, "But I know about your feud with Mr. Jones across the street, and he's right and you're wrong, so he'll get double everything you wish for." So the old man wishes for a million dollars. Poof! There's a duffle bag full of cash on the living room floor. (to be cont'd.)
