Like I said earlier, the stolen S2 has SSI ball joints installed before Travis started offering a kit. I didnt have the car long enough for them to wear out.

The Gray S2 my brother has got a set of rennbay some years ago. I sold him the car with about 56k, it has about 130-140k on it now. Up to 56k it ran on 16s only. My schmuck brother runs a set of fugly for a 944 18s on new your city streets, and the rennbay joints have more miles than the factory ones.

I am pretty sure there is another set of rennbay ball joints in one of the seven different 944s my brother and I owned.

I recommend both products.

We have had rubber boots on the shelf for years. From my experience they don't last as well as the poly boots and they are hard to put on but I am always happy to swap them out upon request.

And I agree with Tom. The SSI kit has proven to be a high quality kit. They have been making ball joints as long (longer?) than I have. I do favor the Rennbay product line because... well, I make it.

Again, please excuse my outburst above. It has nothing to do with SSI or ball joints. Its just Mark gets under my skin and has for a long time on SO many other posts besides this one. I seriously think it is some kind of cultural difference leading to a misunderstanding because... well.. I don't want to get started on it again.

So.. back on topic....

Mark, if you had used the Rennbay kit with metal bushings instead of plastic, you would have had no problems.

I installed the SSI kit about three years ago, and it is primo! I think they make these things when you order them because I got a little run around when I ordered. Said it may take a few weeks because they were retooling the machines. I don't remember it taking longer than 10 days to get the kit, but it was worth the wait.
