968 aero mirrors

968 aero mirrors
So, I am installing my 968 mirrors today that I bought brand new. Now I have a wiring question, the new motor that comes with the aero mirror kit has a black, red, blue, white, and two brown wires. Now my 944 wiring harness has 2 solid brown wires, one solid white, one solid blue, one black, and one grey with a green stripe. The colors are the same for both sides of the car, now I am guessing that the blue goes with the blue, white goes with the white, black goes with the black, and the two brown wires connect with the other two brown wires and the red wire to the grey with green stripe. Does anybody know if this is correct?
I have read the write up from www.951motorsports.com and the wire colors are different.
Thank's

Here's what you need to do. The wiring pattern is the same on the 944 motors as it is on the 968 motors. Only the colors are different. Turn your 944 motor over and look at the four wires coming out of the back of the motor. Write down the order the colors are in from left to right. Then match the color order on the 968 motors as well.
The brown wires are interchangable as they are only attached to the mirror glass. I think your order will be as follows - BUT CHECK THE COLOR ORDER FIRST - and then let me know if I'm correct...
968 Black to 944 Grey with Green
968 Red to 944 Black
968 Blue to 944 Blue
968 White to 944 White
Once again, look at the 944 motor and match the color order to the 968 motor.
By the way, you can also pull off the backing plate to the new 968 motor (it just snaps on) and place the 968 motor backing plate on the 944 motor. Then install the 944 motors and keep the 968 motors as a backup. That way your colors will match exactly.
Let me know on the color order and I'll add your info to the next revision.

The wiring is only the same IF the cars are 85.5 or later. The early 944's have a completely different motor drive system in the mirrors.
Easy to tell: If the end of the directional control stick is large and round it's the early mirrors. If it's small and kind of pointy it's the later mirrors.
It's the wiring of the directional control stick that is totally different between the two systems as well as the console mirror selection switch.

OK Guy's thank's for your help, but after some trial and error I figured out how the wires go.
This is for a 1984 944
944 Motor 968 Motor
white to white
blue to black
black to red
grey with green stripe to blue
And the two browns go to the other two browns, either way.
They look awesome on my brand new paint job that I just finished.
Thank's again for your reply's, it's good to know that there are still people in this ****ed up world who are still willing to give something for nothing!

Great!
Glad you got it figured out. I'll add your "color chart" to the next revision.
BTW, you can add your car's model year and your sign off in the sig section of "my profile". Helps with the answers to the questions and keeps you from having to type LeadFoot944 every time.
