This was owned built/owned by a friend of mine who sold it a few years ago. Renegade is apparently coming along as a company. I hear they are developing a brake kit for the 944 (because you lose power brakes with the V8 conversion) that will be comparable in stopping power to the Big reds for less price...
Anyway, here's the BEAST. At one point probably the fastest 944 out there. And street legal to boot! Check out the dynos.

He now has a 02 Viper ACR.

"To show HOW serious I am about the cars performance, the WINNING bidder can take $1000 off his FINAL winning bid IF HE CAN BRING me a car that is street legal and the car beat me. I WON'T even use my nitrous system, no need to, the car that can beat this doesn't exist. The motor alone in this car makes over 500hp and cost roughly $10,000 to build (parts and labor)." --from the porsche944s0 website
That is quite the statement. No mention of suspension of brake upgrades though.

Jon's not married. That might have been the guy that bought it from him. Jon originally made the website, but the guy who bought it from him might have made the changes (he gave him the website with the car).

i'm all for a done-right conversion, and it sounds like that one is. however, i'm not for the Capitalization of Words that dont Need to be Capitalized. he's got a very big head, and a very big motor... compensating for something? he can have 500 hp all day long, i'll take my 'measly' 143 to the track, the REAL track, with Turns, and we can see who's car is better... we can see what power is without control. if i was to convert... it'd be to a 928 motor, even if i had to tube frame the puppy... i'd 'Do it Right'.

Hey hey come now... Jon's a nice guy. He's hilarious in person. Talks just like you would guess from the writing. A little harsh Michael...

Heh if he wants a street legal car that can beat him I know plenty of them. Would be nice to have that power in a 944 but 500 hp on the street isn't extremely rare. Hell my buddies small block is pushing 450 hp that he built for around 2 grand. Runs 11's. Imagine what he could have with a little extra $ and dropped in a 502 haha.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am considering the V-8 conversion because I cant decide between pure power, abeit unrefined, like with my lincoln or mustang, etc. or the pure sports-car heritage and quality and handling and recogntion of Porsche. I believe I have found a happy medium. Plus (my .98 cents) is that these motors can handle more hp more reliably, are easier to work on and fix, and obtaining high hp levels doesn't require 10s of thousands of dollars like it does with Porsche motors...
