Post Purchasing New Tires (Probably S-03's).. UPDATE I BOUGHT 'EM "THEY'RE AWESOME"

I live right around the corner from The Tire Rack's huge warehouse in South Bend, so I'll be going there (probably this Saturday) for some new treads.

I've heard everybody talk about the S-03's. Does anybody have a close of pic of the tread pattern and what they look like on the rim.

I'm just a weekend driver... no autox or track use. What's everybody's opinions about these tires???

Or is there something else you guys would recommend me to look at besides these tires!

Thanks in Advance!

I have never used, or even seen, the S-03's ... so no help here

But if you decide to not get them for some reason, Michelin Pilot Sports are an excellent tire as well.

Man, people buy tires because of what they look like?! Geez <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

I've heard really good things about the S-03s, but no direct experience.

I can tell you in about a month

But honestly, I have heard nothing but positive things about these tires. I was about to order the ES 100 as soon as they came out. Then I heard about these. They are $50 more apiece and I heard that it was worth the extra money. We will see after I autocross them a few times.

It all depends on what you intend to use the tires for...serious street use and light track use the Bridgestone S03s are fine.

A friend of mine is running them on his 968CS and is quite happy with them. He personally likes the S02s better on dry tarmac, but the S03s are slightly better in wet.

Also heard good things about the Michelin Pilots and the Pirelli Pzero Rossos (just bought a set of these myself).

I switched to the S03s when I got my 17" wheels. They're great! I do some track events and they stick like glue. They also wear like iron, so they'll last quite a while (and for what they cost, they should!)

What's most amazing is the wet traction though. I'm running 255s in the rear and 225s up front and I drove the car in the rain quite a bit before I got my other car for a daily driver. Absolutey no hydroplaning and they stick very well in the wet. Something like a 9.6 traction rating in the dry and 9.4 in the wet. I've never seen a tire with anything close to the wet traction ability of these things, so if you do any rain driving I highly recommend them.

The Michelin Pilot Sports are also a great tire, about the same stick in the dry but not quite as well in the wet.

For the money compared to Toyo Proxes T1-S they are not that much better. But that isn't what you asked now is it...

I'm running S-03's on the street on 16" Fuchs. They are an excellent all around performance tire. I still run Yoko A008's for track tires and S-03 dry performance seems comparable to the track Yoko's. Plus, there is vast superiority in wear rates and wet performance. I highly recommended the S-03's and the Tire Rack price is reasonable.

Hey, check out my gallery page from my profile. I have pictures with the S03 pole positions. I love them! Great in rain. Was doing about 100 down the ohio turnpike in torrential downpour and the car felt like it was dry summer. No loss of traction in the slightest. Great traction on dry. The only time ive even broken the rear slightly was in a huge pile of sand. Any tire would have though. There is a close up on one of the pictures i have, actually, let me just post it...

My daily job has allowed me to test several cars and various tires. After some evaluation of the S-03s on our cars when compared with the Michelin Pilot Sport and other Bridgestone models I was very impressed with the S-03s.

When it came time to spend my own money I selected the S-03s for my 944. I am very happy with them. They are great in the rain and in the dry. This is the best non-race rubber I have ever driven on!

P'7000's were nice for all weather but seemed to last very verys short. Then there are the bridgestone So2's and I loved them but they lasted less then the 7000's My favorite tires are no longer made (Dunlops D40-M2 I think is the name) I have some dunlop Sp5000's on my car now and they are alsome. Good grip in anything and they are even more amazeing in the rain. The tread life has been 2x's longer then the S02's and the grip seems to be the same on dry roads.
As far as the So3's I have no idea.

Cory, go for the S03's. I did a lot of research when I was tire shopping and the concensus was that the S03 was the best tire for the money. Michelin Pilots may be slightly better but at a big increase in price. The S03's were a little out of my budget but they will be on my next Porsche.

I have them on the front right now, and I can say they are a much better tire than the previous RE71's I had. In about a 1000 miles they are going on the back, but when you have only put 200 miles on your car this year it takes awhile
