Also, I noticed on the used one I tried, it worked for a few times when I smacked the dash, but after few times it would not work any more. Also, none of the dash lights blinked, probably not a ground. I also checked the continuity of the green wire form the coil to the, it seems OK.

I have a late NA schematic which does not apply to the Early NA. If you have and email me or point me to a a Early NA schematic I might be able to help you. My understanding is pin 1 out of the DME drives both the coil and the TACH. Being that you have continuity (near 0 ohms ?) it sounds like and other connection is missing or you have 2 in op TACHs.
