Which dash trim piece are youtalking about?? I have done this to paint some of the pieces red it looks real good with black interior. Anyway my advice is go very slow and dont try to take something out that does not want to. The only piece I had trouble with is the one around the speedo and the vents. There are hidden screws inside the vents. I believe there are two of them but I dont know for sure. Thats the only piece thats tricky to take out and paint. PLEASE POST PICS WHEN YOU ARE DONE!!!! GOOD LUCK

i think he's talking about the trim, around the AC *****, cigarretelighter, clock, ignition switch. All those pieces. I painted them. the one you REALLY need to look out for is the one on the AC controls. it is very thin and it has little tiny parts that will snap. dont force it. if you have to take the whole control unit out and get the piece off with some tools or something like a wide chisel. also make sure before pulling the end pieces off, there are screws behind the black panels next to were the door meets the dash. the part you cant see with the door closed. there is jsut one screw holding it on. I didnt paint them but maybe you want to. BTW what color are you planning on doing?

anyway i know this is what you really want to see.

Brett, what kind of paint did you use to paint your trim peices? They look really nice.

Brett,

I am trying to do the same thing you hae done with yours. I cannot find all of the screws. I barely got the drivers side window controls out. I tried on the piece on the left of the steering wheel and felt like I was going to break it prying it after removing the two screws under the little panel.I took off th eheadlight **** and the nut holding it in, couldnt find any more screws. DO you have any more of a detailed explanation on where the screws are and how to remove individual pieces?

on the pieces around the steering wheel, if you remove the black shroud around the base of the wheel you shoudl be able to find a couple srews under there that are hard to find. i never even put them back in.

by the clock there is a clip holing it in place. and you have to take the AC control peice off before you can take the piece to the left of it off because there are screws under it. The screws holding the AC control unit in place also hold one of the trim pieces in place.

Make sure you give them a light sand. Very light.

make sure you take out the A/C control panel FIRST. there are 4 screws uder it that also hold in the A/C controls, and you are guaranteed to break things (Yes, my car is bust, and I've even ordered parts off of ebay that ended up having the same problem!)

You'll also find some screws under the dash finishing panels on the outsides. just take out 1 screw to remove them, and they reveal 2 more!

Be careful taking out the A/C sensor grille also. it's a 1/4 turn anti-clockwise to remove it, but the fins on it are easy to break as you grip them. There's a really sneaky screw under there!

Honestly, I expected the Rennlist crowd to give me some hell over it, but I love it, and thats what counts!

also there is a screw under the screen were the air sensor is, next to the lighter.just turn it then it comes out and you can get to the screw. dont try to stick a small screwdriver through the screen

what counts is that you enjoy it, and that you did it well!

as for me and mine, they'll have the mechanicals in order before the aesthetics are touched.
