Post ACHTUNG!!! Check your nuts

Right so I was cleaning her up, particularly the wheels, which at this point is a loosing proposition.

Anyways spotted a lug nut missing. Head down to the store and all they have is (arrrggghhhh) chrome ones. And the listings don't even show 944/924 just 911/928/boxter. Maybe I should have looked under VW.

Anyways. Our lugnuts seem to be some kind of aluminuim alloy. Very sweet and high falutent and all that. Except one had craked, and the alloy has corroded away to nothing. Not enough to get a grip on, but enough that I can't get it off. I'm either going to chisel it off or see if I can get the rest off and break it off with the wheel. Not very happy.

The thing is the tires are fairly new. So the Gottverdamnt PO should have noticed it. and if not replaced it at least told me about it when I might have been able to get it off.

Well the whole fecking nut is off flush to the wheel but I can't get that "collar" out.

Came in for the drill.

And I'm doing a lot more damage to my wheels than I would like.

Mine are fine and functioning properly....oh you mean wheel nuts. I got spare ones if you email me to remind me. I got your sunroof brackets. I couldn't tell what was wrong with yours from the pictures you sent me. Also, I think the early and late alternator will both bolt up even though is a different part number as far as I know. Maybe someone will know the difference.

If you have stripped nuts, get a 12 point expendible made in China socket and pound it on to the nut. It will make its own groves on the nut and you can use your rachet on it. If that doesn't work, follow directions at the bottom of my post.

Oh by the way the 12 point has to be just a little smaller than 19 mm. SAE sockets are great for that especially if you don't work on American cars.

Lego. Nuts weren't stripped. One "corner" actually corroded down the center then snapped off. It's on'y the "collar" I need to get off now.

Have used up my supply of drill bits, chisels and punches. Got a bigger hammer and am applying liberal amounts of ignorance, but it's getting dark out.

I'll contact you later on the ohter stuff.

BTW, there is a procedure in the Porsche manuals for dealing with this situation,it uses a hole-saw like cutter to cut the lip of the "collar."
Just a thought...Bruce

Lego. You know me to well.

Yeah throw a stud in the bag stud.

Although to be technically correct. It's a Lug. Hence Lug nut.

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

So what are we up to. Sunroof brackets, as many interior screws as you can gather. The liner inside the drivers side window rail, stud/lug, and I've run into another problem. What kind of condition is your sunroof in? Toss in one of those plastic grills that goes inside the door area at the base of the B-pillar (what in the hell is that for anyways).

F' it. Take your car apart, put it in boxes and ship it to me.

In case you think I'm not kidding. I am. Aint got the dosh for that much stuff.

Tell me how much you want for above and I'll tell you if I'll take the alternator or not. I aints rich ya know. And let me know how you want me to get you the money.

F18rep. Exactly what I've been thinking all along. I'll have to do that as there is still a lot left to go.

Back on topic after buying Lego's car piece by piece.

If any of you have the original alloy lug nuts on there. Get them off. They are probably in rough shape on the surface anyways, and new ones aren't that exspensive. If you run into a problem like I have you'll really be cursing up a storm.
