I have a 84. local dealer says to use Castrol 20w-50. This seems a little thick to me. My car has 123k and is driven less than 100 miles per week. When it is driven I run it for 45 minutes each way to work. Any and all suggestion more than welcome.

That's what I use in my '87 NA with 95K on it. I'd perhaps go to a 10w40 for colder weather, but 20w50 in the warm weather seems just fine.

I use 15W-50 (Mobil 1 Synth) on my S2. Since my car spends a lot of time at the track and autocross, the higher weight oil keeps things lubricated nicely at high engine RPM's.

Not sure if you need that kinda protection (ie: daily drivers don't see 6000 rpms for 20 minutes at a time), but you should be fine with that weight.

I've also been told that 15W-50 should be ok in the winters here: it won't cause any problems on cold starts. (But I have my Subaru for winter driving! )

Just my $0.42.
