Question Sound ID Assistance?

Ok, so I now have all of about 30 miles on my new 951 and a quick question (lack of knowledge base on my part). My car sounds like a turbine spooling up whenever I'm getting on the gas. It seems independent of the turbo, so I can't imagine it's that. Would a bad bearing in the alternator/AC compressor/PS pump/another belt driven accessory give that type of sound?

The owner didn't seem to think anything of it and the mechanic who did the PPI this morning didn't mention anything either so I'm not overly concerned - just curious.

thanks for the help guys/gals!

Most likely it IS the turbine spinning up, keep an eye on the boost gauge as you listen (please keep the other eye on the road so you don't end up like the clown in my "Ribs' day was..." thread.

LOL, naw - I know this isn't England (driving on the wrong side) - but thanks. Is the turbo really that loud? I mean, I can hear it Clearly while the windows down, and not at all with the windows up (the people who've mentioned this car seals like a Vault weren't kidding!).

Not to mention that the sound really does seem independent of the boost-guage. *shrug* I guess if something breaks, it breaks and I deal with it.

Thanks anyway!
