Join PCA?

I have to agree. I bought a membership a few years back, and went to a couple social gatherings. It was alright. You do gain discounted track time as well as other benefits for members. It's worth buying a year membership at least

Thanks for the advise everyone.
I'm going to sign up for a year, and see what happens. The LV chapter has a Sunday brunch every Sunday (Probably not for me), but they also do a LOT of fun runs which I am defiantly into.
Also, can I get a link to NASA? I tried googling it, but all that came up were for some defunct space program....

NASA is active in Arizona and So-cal.

Its what you make of it. I say join. its only what, 50$/yr? that's like 2 tanks of gas. you get local and national newsletters, and an introduction to one of the largest single marque clubs.. somewhere over 30,000 members? more?
Go in with the attitude that these old farts aren't going to like me and well, it will be self fulfilling. If "driving" or technical is your thing, go to those events first. There's an excellent chance that the "stuffy old folks" were once 356, 911, 914 or 944 driving "kids" in their youth.

Here, I do about $55-60 PER TANK!
I think I'm going to hit up and auto-x or 2, just to meet people. For now, I'm going to skip the brunches....

The brunches and dinner meets are probably going to be difficult until you know someone. I'd do what you're doing - start out with a few events that will get you active and socializing (and give you something to socialize about - like AX.)

I've been a member for 5 years. In my local chapter, the demographic is pretty much split down the middle between the club racers and the wine & cheese crowd. I enjoy both aspects equally. In five years, I've only had one occurrence of anyone treating me poorly because of my 924s, and they were 944 owners (go figure). Everyone else has been SUPER nice and treated my wife and I very well...we are almost always the youngest ones attending the social events, but have always enjoyed them.
Some other benefits to think about...
First, the monthly Panorama is worth the club membership fee.
Second, the resources that open up to you by being a club member are great. Just one example: I met my trans rebuilder thru the PCA, and he gives me great service and prices, better than anything I could get at a shop.
